Comprised of 10 film notes or vignettes, Hotel room notes was made in a five day period entirely from one hotel room in northern Norway. Not quite a travelogue, it approaches an inability to interact with new surroundings and an estrangement from nature. Here diaristic observations are mixed with fleeting thoughts - the mind wanders, dreams, fantasises. Within this foreign environment Hotel room notes still looks for familiarities, it tries to make connections in order to find comfort. Of course the work does recognise the inherent paradox of fictionalising your version of the present; where you imagine yourself participating rather than just, say, leaving the room…
